The Reality of Dental Implants

Dental implants are a great option for many people who have lost teeth. The Dental Implants in Lahore are artificial tooth roots, made of titanium, that are placed into the jawbone to hold replacement teeth or dentures in place. They can be used on their own or with other dental procedures such as crowns and bridges. Implants are considered the most natural-looking long-term solution because they function just like real teeth once they have healed properly.

When it comes time to choose what type of restoration will work best for you, it is important that you don’t rush into anything without first consulting your dentist about all of your options. Whether you’ve lost one tooth or several, there is likely an implant procedure available to help restore your smile.  In this article, your New York City dentist explores the differences between implant-supported dentures and traditional dentures. If you’re considering implants for tooth replacement, you might already be aware that dental implants can be used in conjunction with bridges or even partial dentures. However, not many people know how they work together.

Surgical Placement of Dental Implants: The Process Explained

Dental implants are considered a long-term solution for missing teeth, and their stability makes them ideal candidates to replace natural ones. After placement of this fixture into your jaw bone (assuming there’s room), new bone tissue will form around it which provides firm anchorage as well as support against chewing forces from foods like ice cream or hot peppers. It’s a relatively simple and painless procedure that can last for years and decades. Let’s take a look at how they’re made, and what makes them so special.

Dental implants begin with the placement of two screws into your jaw bone (one-stage surgery). These screws will become the anchors to which prosthetic teeth are attached via dental implant fixtures inserted in the gum tissue around these screws (two-stage surgery). During this period, you’ll likely be fitted with temporary dentures or even nothing at all until the new bone formation is achieved and final crowns can be placed.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

Dental implants are a great way to replace teeth without having to worry about the problems that come with traditional dentures. Implants can be used for single or multiple teeth and can even be used as part of an implant-supported bridge. Dental implants work by fusing with the jawbone through a process called osseointegration, which is when the bone actually grows around and into titanium posts, creating a strong bond between them- leaving you free from worrying about your new tooth falling out.

However, dental implants are not without their problems. In some cases, the body does not react well to a dental implant and inflammation is severe enough that it can result in a total rejection of the implant. A six-month study conducted at Henry Ford Hospital has recently been completed and shows promising results for using stem cells to help heal this otherwise untreatable condition. The results have been published in the Journal of Oral Implantology (JOMI). The use of adult stem cells is nothing new in clinical applications; there is already evidence that they can be used to reduce pain and encourage healing after surgery, but never before has there been such significant proof of their clinical efficacy as there is with the study.
