Humans are created in a way that certain things are fundamental and should be carried out if they want to live a happy and productive life. Some of such things include eating, taking care of your body, drinking water, exercising, etc., all these things carry a lot of health benefits and sleeping is one of them.

The way you sleep and what you sleep on go a long way in determining if you’ll be able to sleep comfortably and the duration with which you’ll be able to sleep. For example, sleeping on a chair or standing makes your muscles put in extra work for you to maintain your position which also makes it difficult for you to sleep for long.

Lying down to sleep is necessary if you want to experience REM sleep. As you may already know, sleeping has various stages and REM sleep is a stage where your memories become consolidated. Unlike when you stand or sit to sleep when you lie to sleep, your muscles don’t move during REM sleep.

Today, when people want to lie down to sleep two options are available to them, its either you are sleeping on a bed or hammock and both objects have their benefits as well as their disadvantages as well. Rounds are going about that sleeping on hammocks is great for your back. Is it true? If you have heard about that too and you want to verify it before purchasing one, then you are in the right place because, in today’s blog post, we’ll be looking at if hammocks are good for the back or not.

Are there benefits to gain from sleeping in a hammock?

Studies have been carried out on sleeping on hammocks but the studies carried out thus far are not extensive. Most of the studies you’ll find regarding this subject involve babies.

Notwithstanding, there are still benefits that have been attached to sleeping on hammocks and in this section, I’ll be discussing only a few.

Hammocks facilities deep sleep

A study carried out in 2011 showed that the rocking motion of hammocks encourages deep sleep. In the study, 12 men took two 45-minute nap on different days and on different objects as well. One 45-minute sleep was done on a bed while the other was done in a swinging bed (hammock).

While the participants slept, the researchers used EEG analyses and polysomnography to study the activity in their brains. The study showed that sleeping on swinging beds accelerates the transition from being awake to sleeping and it lengthens stage 2 sleep, a stage where the body is in light sleep and is about to enter deep sleep.

According to the researchers, the swinging motion could facilitate internal sleep rhythms and these rhythms help in promoting deep sleep. Additionally, the rocking motion has a calming feel and promotes relaxation.

Pressure point reliefs

Not many people know that sleeping on mattresses (beds) places more pressure on your back, butt, and shoulder. Your back, butt, and shoulder are known as your pressure points and when you sleep on poorly designed or old beds, they can trigger those pressure points. Nevertheless, a good bed can reduce the pressure on those areas.

Sleeping in hammocks have been said to relieve the pressure on those areas as well and the logic surrounding this notion is based on the surface being more flexible thereby offering equal pressure on all parts of your body. Not only does it relieve your pressure points, but it can also mould your natural curves.

Are hammocks good for my back?

Yes! They can. Hammocks can alleviate back pain but that’s only possible when it’s placed in a proper position. Sleeping on your back is the ideal sleeping position and to back that claim, a lot of healthcare professionals in the back and spine regions agree to that. Hammocks force you to sleep on your back which helps you in reducing the pressure on the spine, which is more comfortable for people who had pre-existing back pain.

Conclusion

Hammocks help you sleep better, faster, and deeper. They can relieve the pressure on your back, shoulder, and spine when you sleep on them. It’s no wonder why they have become so popular and have different types. Today, there are a lot of places where you can purchase hammocks. About us

If you want to add an online magazine to your Drupal site, you may already know that the best CMS for this purpose is Drupal. You can sell digital magazines and even set up a paywall. While some magazines use old, out-of-date CMS such as WordPress or TypePad, these are not robust enough for creating a full-scale magazine website. Consider adding a magazine module to your website to get the most out of it.
